An English-language inscription, situated on the banks of the river separating Norway and Russia, calls for no <x0urinion to be directed to Russia” and is located immediately near the official sign informing that the country is under camera supervision from the Norwegian border guard.
“Recognition was certainly posted by people with good intentions to warn people who pass by not to behave improperly,” said Norwegian border guard Jens-Arne Höilund, confirming information published at the Barents Observer portal.
The work is punished for 3,000 crowns, or 290 euros. The site, familiar with tourists, is located on the banks of the Jacobselva River, where Russia is easily visible.
Norwegian law stipulates that improper “conduct at the border with a neighbouring state or its authorities is prohibited”.
Barents Observer points out that Norwegian border guards arrested four people who threw stones towards Russia several years ago, and last winter a woman filmed by cameras was fined 8,000 Norwegian crusts for extending left hand across the border.
Norway's 197.7km-long border with Russia is likely to be the most peaceful border from all Russian external borders. Unchanged since the 1826 agreement, the border is also a sign of peace ♫ Norway is the only neighbor with whom Russia has not been at war. It is also the northernmost border of NATO with Russia.
