“Now that the airport is back in operation, we intend to keep it that way,” said Taylor.
In the last 72 hours, 2,500 other American troops have been sent to Kabul, and a total of 3,500 will be sent to the end.
The Pentagon also announced plans to evacuate 9,000 people a day from Kabul. The evacuation mission should last until the end of August.
