The markedly deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, at the time the Taliban are spreading rapidly to the north, and Afghan security forces are having trouble protecting the territory ever in contractions in the south and west, has forced the Department of Defence to speed up plans to evacuate Americans from the country, reports The New York Times, Report Express.
Officials say any evacuation will include powerful use of the American military force in order to move people to Hamid Karzai International Airport to host military transport planes and protect them along the way.
Americans are also trying to get assurances from Taliban that they will not attack the embassy if they invade the capital, two American media officials said.
