The head of the Kosovo government, Albin Kurti, accompanied by Health Minister Arben Vitita, a candidate candidate for Pristina chairman, has been hosting today's Tirana mayor, Erion Veliaj, with which they have discussed cultural organisations that will be held in the two capitals next year. This meeting with Veliaj as Tirana leader comes at a time when Kosovo is facing a new wave of infection and death as a result of the new Delta version.
“U also discussed cultural events to be held in the capitals of both states next year. Pristina will be economical and lanache “Manifesta”, while the Albanian capital of activities of “Tirana, European Capital of Youth 2022”. Mayor Veliaj said these two events are a good opportunity for promoting Albanian art and culture”, said the communique issued by the Government's Media Office.
This meeting with Veliaj has also discussed the pandemic and the performance of the vaccine process in both countries.
As reported in the communiqué “Mayor Veliaj took an interest in the effect of pandemic on the economy, praising the role and will of the Kosovo diaspora to contribute to economic development”.
While Kurti has responded to “that the economy is starting to score growth and economic growth will reach 7.9 percent of the gross domestic product, according to projections. He also said progress has been made in exports and tax collection”.
This meeting with Veliaj comes on the eve of the October local elections, where Health Minister Arben Vitita will compete for the first of Pristina. The minister of Health has said he will make the maximum until October, when he will even be put in local elections.
However, the pandemic situation in the country has become extremely heavy. In the last 24 hours alone, 18 people have died as a result of COVID-19 and are more than 2,000 new cases of infection.
Active cases with COVIED-19 are about 25 thousand.
