In addition to Northern Macedonia, from countries in the region, Kosovo and Albania have expressed their readiness to house Afghans who have worked with American authorities.
Both of these states have confirmed on August 15th that they are communicating with American authorities to temporarily house Afghan civilians until their documents are regulated so that they can later go to the US.
The security situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated since international troops, led by the US, announced in May that by August 31st they will withdraw from the country.
On August 15th, the Taliban entered the Afghan capital, Kabul, as Afghanistan's president Ashraf Ghan left the country.
At Kabul International Airport, which is being managed by American troops, there are tollows, as many Afghans, for fear of Taliban, are wanting to leave the country.
Many diplomatic missions in Kabul, including the US, have begun evacuation of their staff and Afghans who have collaborated with them.
