“Pristina University in Mitrovica” and government silence
For years now, there are governments and governments, there are assembly legislatures and legislatures that have failed to prosecute the new Law on Higher Education, due to the status of a potential university in northern Mitrovica. Besides the delay for years, it has hit the possibilities of a reform in our educational system, remaining hostage to a new law. Today, however, as bad news, representatives of Serbia and the Serbian List laid the foundation for the university funded by Serbia, which they call the “Pristina University in Mitrovica”.
Is this project being accomplished with or without the blessing of our government? What is the attitude of our allies?
No response from the prime minister, who in the past has been the most vocal of the situation in the north and no response from any government dictatorship. Unbridled opposition population has been replaced by unintelligible government silence. With this move, Serbia is clearly strengthening its positions up to the Iber River, thus concretely concretely breaking up the town of Mitrovica. This situation, like many others in the past and as many others to come in the future, testifies that neither the country's real problems are solved by servilism nor by population nor by the status quo, which is at the expense of Kosovo and Albanians as much as the time goes by.
The northern problem is a deep political problem that requires bold political solutions, and visionary and manly politicians who solve this country's problems and do not give up on future generations. There is no doubt that one of the solutions is for Kosovo to seek reciprocity in rights and the same status for eastern Kosovo in talks with Serbia as those it has and are required for Kosovo's north. The delay in this approach and long-standing status will strengthen not only Serbia's position up to the Iber River, but also fatal for the fate of Albanians in eastern Kosovo.
