The municipality of Prizren and Pec is expected to win the mayor's seat, in which there are nine mayoral candidates, for local elections to be held on 17 October.

So it was said today at the Central Election Commission meeting, where, among other things, it became known that by 17 August, voter registration abroad has been accepted 10 thousand and 638 applications, which are under consideration and the deadline for this process ends today at midnight.

Ylli Buleskaj from the Office for the Recording of Political Partys and Certificates said they are under consideration for political subjects' applications to be certified for the October 17th elections, which 99% of them have needed fulfillments.

“There are municipalities in which there appears to be great competition for the mayor's seat they are, according to current data, the Pec and Prizren municipality with nine candidates, while both will have between 14 and 12 political subjects that have shown interest in competing for seats in their Municipal Framework, the biggest competition in Kosovo seems to be in these two municipalities, even though Pristina is the capital and has the largest number of seats in the Parliament. While municipalities that have less interest, it is conditional on the mayor's seat of the municipality that is Vitita, Han of Elez and Ranillug with two apps, as well as other municipalities for the Communist countries that have little interest is the municipality of Ranillug with two political subjects racing for seating in these municipal municipalities”, he has said.

Burim Ahmetaj from the CEC Secretariat has said that out of 10 thousand and 638 voter registration applications abroad, 9 thousand and 652 have been approved until the secretariat continues accepting applications until midnight Wednesday.

The “The curtain, which began on July 10th and is expected to close today at 24:00 p.m. so before midnight is the application period for voter registration abroad. Our report is on August 17th, 8:00, and by that time they applied 10 thousand and 638 applications to register as voters abroad, all these applications are through official emails that the CEC has published. So 10,000 of the 638 applications accepted for recording, out of them 9 thousand and 652 applications are approved. The secretariat will continue today with the admission of apps by midnight, and I will address all requests”, he said.

Ahmetaj announced that they have accepted 2,000 and 670 requests via the online platform, calls for exchange of polling stations, while 300 requirements have been submitted through application forms.

At today's CEC meeting it became known that citizens in Kacanik and Han of Elez, who have citizenship in northern Macedonia, except for the Republic of Kosovo, will be able to capitalise on voting in the two states on 17 October, since local elections will be held at the same date in the neighbouring country.

Also today, the Central Election Commission has approved recommendations for refusing voting applications outside Kosovo, accepted by Montenegro, which have been deemed suspicious.
