As a result of the lack of material, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has made the decision that all Kosovo citizens, despite the expiration deadline for identification, the identification document tou is considered valid for six months.
Despite this, citizens have numerous complaints about the long time they have to wait to be equipped with identification.
There are those who need the identification document for travel, and that's where it's going.
Citizens Rafet Makolli, who has applied for ID, says of Kosova Preis that despite the lack of material, citizens' interest in handling this document is great, as it has had to wait long.
Makolli, on the occasion of applying for ID at the Civil Record Centre, has been told that she will have to wait a minimum 3 months to get the document.
We had to wait in line today for ID application around 40 minutes, but we need to wait three months because the material doesn't. It's not safe for three months, it can go on yet more”, he says.
He shows that the identification document is needed, among other things, for travel, and in its absence, he says he is feeling insecure to take the road.
“We're not sure to travel only with the application sheet because it's only expired for ID”, he says.
That the lack of material for producing IDs is continuing to be a problem in Kosovo, says citizen Arben Wessel.
He tells of Kosova Prees that for equipment with his personal document he applied three months ago, which he was told has no material.
I applied for ID three months ago... We don't have any material to say then... Often the material is being spent, yet it has been spent. We used to be in the other municipality, in the Shtime, there we got”, he says.
While citizen Jevdet Abazi says problems have also run into obtaining the passport.
I applied for a passport from July 7th, but so far no message came to me. I came by to ask what happened to the document. The personnel who provide information are not in the workplace, then I looked for information in other countries and I barely got the information about what I came up with, he says.
Citizens have also raised numerous questions on social networks, where they have asked if they could get out of the country with expired identification, but there were many who said they were unable to do so.
On this issue, Kosova Preress has attempted to receive information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but has not responded.
