New Measures Against COVID- 19 in corrective institutions

The Kosovo Corresponding Service in co-operation with the Health Department of Prisons, based on assessing the overall state of pandemic in the country, with the aim of maintaining the health of prisoners and staff, from August 31st 2021 to September 15th 2021, with Operational Order taking new measures. The measures are like the following:
1. The temporary ban on all family visits to prisoners in the correcting institutions;
2. Stop all weekends at home for convicts;
3. Ban working for convicts outside correct institutions;
4. Stop visits to separate bars;
5. Application of the SKYP virtual communication system for prisoners to develop contacts with families, according to the routine set by the institution;
6. Allowing increased number of phone calls during this period;
7. Limitation of prisoner transfers (only necessary cases);
8. Allowing contact to detainees with their defenders for cases that are developing, with the previous measures on the preemptive order;
9. The measures taken under the operational order of 20.08.2021, which does not conflict with this order remain in force.
Excepting from this order are the ombudsman Institute and human rights monitoring organizations with which MD / The PKK has an understanding agreement.
The Kosovo Correcting Service will continue to co-ordinate institutionally with relevant institutions of the Republic of Kosovo and will keep public opinion on the ongoing steps.
