Machine driver strike German railway

It was another black day for German railways, which remained unpaved on track because of the machine strike. Recent negotiations between unions that had proposed an additional financial bonus for the time of pandemic and senior directors of federal railway Deutsche Bahn have failed. Union heads of [...]

Directors' union leaders indicated they want higher salaries, rather than rewards. They said they are entering the strike in order to get a new offer and for employers to realise they can no longer endure this situation.

German railway company Deutsche Bahn has asked its customers to push, if their scheduled travel is possible, especially in long distances, as numerous train movements are expected.

Train travelers from Berlin to Frankfurt had to wait hopelessly for five hours at the station.

A German railway spokesman called this strike even more useless than the strike held two weeks ago. He accused the union of seeking only a political fight without finding solutions at the negotiating table.

For their part, unionists countered that they were ready to negotiate, but for a decent financial offer. German railway unions are demanding an increase in their salary by 3.2% and a “bond for the corruption-reaching situation” worth 600 Euros.

German train operator Deutsche Bahn has rejected workers' demands. The company has lost billions since the beginning of the pandemic, as well as the recent floods that destroyed or damaged numerous railway tracks.
