According to news reports, Nikolay Levanov, a sheep owner, received a disturbing call from his shepherd, who told him that over a hundred sheep were killed in a storm.
Leahov was unaware that, along with his flock, 400 other sheep were also killed by the same blow.
While the shepherd was likely fortunate, fortunately he just fell unconscious by the lightning and was able to recover.
The shocking sights captured at the scene show hundreds of corpses thrown over a green grass in southern Georgia.
Levanov and other sheep owners have called on Georgian authorities for financial assistance to help with their massive losses, but they said a scientific commission should determine whether the lightning was certainly the cause of death.
To be honest, this is the first such case. We haven't heard that a storm could kill so many sheep”, said Ninotsminda Deputy Mayor Alexander Mikeladze.
On August 12th, it was announced that 550 sheep would be burned in the country, as mountainous terrain made it difficult to transport them away.
A similar incident occurred in 2016, Norway, when a herd of about 300 northern deer were found dead in a remote area of Hardangervidda
