Lajcak warns continuation of dialogue in early September

The European Union's special representative in the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak, said today that he has talked through special meetings with Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Besnik Bislimi and Office for Kosovo Director of the Government of Serbia Petar Petkov for preparations for the rotating meeting at the level of chief negotiators under dialogue between Kosovo [...]
According to Lajcak, discussions have been essential for the meeting between delegations expected to take place in early September.
Kosovo and Serbia, with the European Union's mediation, hold meetings at two levels -- that of negotiating groups that lead them, Bislimi and Petkov -- and meetings at the level of leaders of the countries, Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, respectively.
The talks deal with the possibility of reaching a comprehensive agreement that would solve open problems between the two countries.
The last meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi was held in July, but no progress had been achieved, writes Radio Free Europe.
Kosovo Prime Minister Kurti had said after the meeting that he has proposed a declaration of peace between Kosovo and Serbia, but, according to him, it was rejected “not read”.
For me this indicates the unwillingness of the agreement, since it was refused without reading at all”, Kurti said.
Vuciq, on the other hand, said the Kosovo side always conditions with the new “political criteria”.
For the month of September, it was warned that the next meeting between Kurti and Vuciqi would take place.
Dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia has started since 2011.
Official Belgrade insists that Pristina implement the Serb majority-commission Agreement. Meanwhile, official Pristina has stressed that a number of agreements reached within the dialogue, not implemented Right from Belgrade. Kosovo, in this direction, has separately cited the border control agreement -- the one for recognition of diplomas -- for certificates of goods, freedom of movement, as well as the accord for the introduction.
European Union officials have repeatedly reminded the parties that this process is important even for the European perspective of both countries.
