Prime Minister Albin Kurti had said that his government's priority would be the management of the pandemic, even from the Parliament not rarely received credit for lowering cases, while now that the death toll reached up to 17 per day and over 2 thousand cases, it is silent while Minister Arben Vitita is busy dealing with the election campaign.
Today when dozens of citizens die during the week and thousands more are infected every day, Prime Minister Kurti has disappeared while Minister Vitita is dealing with local elections, when he will be VVA's candidate for Pristina Mayor.
The month of August marked a deterioration of the situation with pandemic, registering record numbers of the infected.
What appears during the last days is that the most affected are between 20 and 29 years of age. Health authorities say most are affected by the new version and are calling for mass vaccine.
And that's not bothering Kurt and the year anymore, just to deal with it.
We recall a statement by Kurti on August 2nd in the Assembly where he said the main commitment was pandemic, and according to him, this has been brought under full control.
Our “government, which emerged as a result of the February 14th plebiscary elections, has made 144 decisions in the first three months, passed bills and documents, implementing our pledges to citizens for a fair and developing state. With reforms in justice, public finance and the economy increased efficiency in public institutions. On the day of our sworn oath as a government, we pledged that the pandemic will be our priority to stop the trend of increasing infection and death and ensure as soon as possible. On our first day we had 781 cases of infection and 17 deaths, so this is the context, that's the situation. I believe that whatever measurement is made to our government should be made in relation to the day we took office. One hundred days later, there were nine new cases and no deaths. In these 100 days something has happened that doesn't happen so much infection.
The situation has improved, we have a 99 percent drop in new cases, find a case in the region. We have a 97 percent drop in active cases and 98 percent of the hospitals. Kosovo in the past is mentioned at the bottom of lists for good and at the top for bad, the opposite is good management of pandemic. Pandemia is managed, vaccines are secured and we have fulfilled the basic promise. . Pandemia has been brought under control and the economy has opened almost entirely”, Kurti said.
