Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has held an online meeting with representatives of dozens of international states and organisations to discuss the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan.
This meeting was organised by US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy R. Sherman and Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, who on behalf of the US government expressed their deep appreciation for friendly states, including Kosovo, who have shown their will and offered their willingness to temporarily accommodate Afghan citizens, the Office of the Prime Minister says.
Sherman argued that all expenses from the Afghan citizens' temporary shelter will be covered by the US government.
At its 26th meeting, the government has made a decision to grant temporary and immediate protection to persons endangered by internal conflict in Afghanistan. The respective teams of the Government of Kosovo and the United States Government are in constant communication about the details of their housing.
