According to KFOR, their air support to ground teams has been necessary given the complexity of the situation.
Until today, KFOR has accepted two requests for air support from the Iik State Centre to secure water points on wild fires in Rugova and Oszlak National Park (Prizren), which had threatened the village of Skorobouse. The intensive work carried out by helicopter pilots has made it possible to put out fire in Oszlak (Prizren) and has helped firefighters control the fire in Rugova National Park. So far, the air support of # KFOR has resulted in the decline of approximately 35,000 gallons of water. Local population co-operation could be crucial to fast reporting the number of rescues of 193 local fire departments, or Kosovo Police Emergency, to 192. Giving the most accurate possible information contributes decisively to limiting damage to the environment, allowing those who will have to operate in the fire to intervene quickly before fire increases in power and destructive capacity”, the report says.
