Industry, Intervention and Trade Minister Roseta Hajdari has taken the decision to make an official investigation into the import of blocs from Serbia.
The reasoning presented in the decision is said to find preliminary analysis carried out by the Department of Commerce as part of the review made before the expiration of the safeguard clause of the current blockades and analysis, indicate that there are elements that the import of these products from Serbia is continuing to cause material damage through damping prices to the industry of local construction producers from the clay.
“Analyzing the sector before and after abolishing the protection measure anti-damping, the data released from the preliminary research done by the Department of Trade in co-operation with the Commission for the assessment of Special Obligations in Imports and the meeting with the Association of Construction Material Producers from Argjila point to a trend of damage to local production from products imported from Serbia, in the direction of the damping prices. Based on the Law on Antidamping Measures and Anti-balanced Measures, respectively, Article 28 Trade Department in consultation with the Special Obligations Commission on Imports recommends making the decision to open the official investigation into the importation of standard blockades with 19x19x25 dimensions from Serbia on suspicion that such import of blocs imported from Serbia to Kosovo is continuing to be sold at lower prices than their price on the domestic market in Serbia, and therefore such an import risks local production due to non-<1>, the minister's decision said.
