Greek authorities say such climate conditions have not been observed since 1987, when the heat of time left more than 1,000 dead.
In the past 24 hours, 116 new fires from the great drought were recorded, while 1,500 sites were in total in July alone.
So far more than 3 thousand hectares of pines and olives burned by fires near the town of Patra, west of Athens, are reported, while the situation remains disturbing on the island of Rhodes near the border with Turkey, the neighboring country where fires have claimed the lives of at least 8 people.
