He, for the Serbian medium “021.rs”, has said that the parties cannot come to the table of negotiations on demand and have no readiness to compromise, consisting at the four points of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, stationed in Brussels towards the Serbian side.
Godfrey has added that any agreement requires compromise on both sides. He has confirmed US support for the dialogue and has said he expects Kosovo and Serbia to progress on the road to the EU.
We all agree that there should be productive dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade, and that it can be put on the table with demand and that there be no readiness for compromise. Any agreement between Belgrade and Pristina will seek compromise on both sides and should have mutual readiness to negotiate. The US supports dialogue assisted by the European Union. We expect to move in the direction for Belgrade and Pristina to make progress on the road to the EU”, Godfrey has said.
As for the “Balkan Open” project, the American ambassador said it benefits the region.
“I am pleased that I have recently seen steps towards greater regional economic integration, to show people that better co-operation in the region contributes is for their own good, that their future is brighter and that they have a stronger economy to work effectively”, he said.
