On the mark of Diaspora Day, Republic of Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has held co-operation with exiles, professionals of various fields, who are staying in Kosovo. At the opening of the meeting, the prime minister stressed that the government has special attention for the charter, and this has also been reflected in the Government Programme. He estimated that the exile is a vital part of the nation, located outside the homeland, but, of course, it is within the nation.
“This great importance of our charter, we aim to make it a priority to our governance in the months and years to come, accounting for the exile as an essential part of sustainable development”, Prime Minister Kurti said.
He thanked the exiles for all the contribution and role before, during and after the war, before and after the proclamation of independence and to this day.
Because we know there is no other people in whose historical developments the exile has had such a decisive role. This is a debt that we will never be able to pay, except what we pledge is that we work together for your common good there, and yours when you come here and the citizens of the Republic and your families, who you visit often during”, Prime Minister Albin Kurti said at the conclusion of the conversation with the exiles.
The Kosovo government will create a national programme for transfer of knowledge and experience from the diaspora to Kosovo.
Deputy Prime Minister, once Foreign Affairs and Diaspore Minister Donika Grovalla, announced to the audience that the Government is working on a new strategy for the diaspora, a new bill and the development of a concept for dialogue with our citizens abroad. “In this direction, we are working to empower the diaspora's mediating role at high-level meetings of political decision-makers and major corporations in countries where they live, creating commitment mechanisms”, she said.
