The most frequent names of Albanians in Switzerland are: Arben, Fatime, and Bekim

The names of citizens of Kosovo and Macedonia are all Albanian names. Albania does not figure because of its small number of citizens in Switzerland

The Federal Bureau for Statistics (BFS) has published on Tuesday the statistics of the most frequent personal names in Switzerland. These include divisions, the names of children born in 2020, and names in general that dominate the population, albinfo.ch writes.

A separate category in this statistics is that of foreign names. The names of the nine largest foreign communities in Switzerland have been introduced here.

Lists of dominant names of Kosovo citizens and North Macedonia contain, practically, only Albanian names. While Albania does not figure as a country of origin because of the small number of citizens of Albania in Switzerland, albinfo writes. ch referring to the latest statistics from BFS.

First, however, for Swiss names most frequently chosen by parents for their babies born in 2020.

Noah was the most popular name in 2010, 2011 and 2013 to 2017. Meanwhile, 507 boys received that name in 2020, coming first again.

The boy Liam's name has been given 372 times, while Matteo 359 times writes sda.ch.

Like Noah among the boys, My name has been on top of the girls' names list for several years, in 2013, 2015, and 2016 respectively.

Since the past year, 461 girls have been added to the list by that name, so Mia takes her first place again. The second most popular name, Emma, has been named 407 girls, while 350 babies have been baptized named Mila.

As for residents of Switzerland of Eastern Europe, distribution is much more equal than in Swiss citizens, notes Sda.ch.

Thus, to Kosovo citizens, for example, the ten most popular names have been put to an almost equal degree: The name Arben is just before Vallon, followed by names: Bekim, Blerim, Leon, Alban, Burim, Liridon, Living and Ilir who are practically on the same level.

The list of names of girls of origin from Kosovo appears this way: Fatime, Albanian, Merita, Vlora, Valemntina, Shrestres, Ganimet, Vjollca, Emine, Edona.

With few changes, the list of the names of Swiss residents of North Macedonia is also presented, writes albinfo.ch. On a list of “male”, this is the lead name Bekim, followed by him Muhammad, Fatmir, Arben, Amir, Ajan, Besnik, Amar, Enis, and Adam.

While the list of names of women/girls descended from North Macedonia is led by the name Fatime, as in the case of Kosovo. Next came the names: Sarah, Amy, Medina, Ayshe, Merit, Maria, Anisa, Susan, and Erina.
