The Taliban have won the war, so we'll have to talk to them. Our priority is the evacuation from Kabul of EU staff and Afghan aides. The fight against al-Qaeda in Afghanistan succeeded, the construction of the nation not”, Borrell said.
According to him, taking power in Afghanistan by Taliban is the most important geopolitical event since the Russian invasion of Crime in 2014. Borrell said further financing for the development of this state will depend on respect for human rights and respect for Security Council resolutions. Borrell said there are many lessons to learn, and that mistakes made in Afghanistan must be admitted.
Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, blamed the former Afghan leader for the fast collapse, but assured reporters that even the north-Atlantic alliance should reveal its shortcomings in training the Afghan Army.
Stoltenberg said that “there are lessons to be learned from the compensation” in NATO.
German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas confirmed that a German military plane was founded by Kabul airport with more than 120 people aboard, including Germans, Afghans and people from other countries who have served for internationals in Afghanistan.
More evacuations will follow, Minister Maas said. Germany will send 600 soldiers to Kabul Airport for that purpose. The German government sent several planes to the region to create a <x0).
