The whole world is currently facing this challenge, which is like a <x0 terrorist threat”, Erdoğan said in a live TV interview.
He said 187 forest fires have erupted in Turkey in the last eight days, of which 15 have not yet been extinguished.
A total of 51 helicopters and 20 planes have engaged in operations to extinguish fires, the Turkish president added.
According to official figures, at least eight people have lost their lives since the beginning of fires in southern and southwest Turkey last Wednesday.
