Zarfi was found in Peschiera Borromeo, in the Milan area. Carabinieri of the station Paullo) intervened after a 57-year-old reported the presence of an envelope, in French mail, containing 3 bullets, without senders, and written in pen and a non-read writing: Pope Vatican City, St. Peter Square, Rome.
The suspicious package was seized before reaching the pope and, according to the police, was sent from France.
Italian police reports that three bullets are supposed to be for a pistol, and the envelope also contained a message regarding potential bank operations and corruption.
The three-shot Flobert, 9 millimeter calibre, has been seized and police are continuing to investigate the event.
Representatives of the Holy See have not yet commented on the event, but already the investigations are continuing.
The event comes after a difficult period for Pope Francis, both healthally. The 84-year-old spent 10 days in hospital last month following a colon surgery.
On July 27th, the Pope gave the go-ahead for launching a trial in which 10 people, including a senior cardinal, have been indicted on charges of misusing Vatican funds. The millions-euro scandal concerns buying a luxury building in London.
