In a dramatic video, hundreds of Afghan civilians surrounded an American military transport plane C-17 as it was moving to the runway at Kabul airport.
An American defence official said these were not individual visa applicants, but people who had violated the airport's civilian track.

These images had come as thousands of Afghans desperately tried to fly abroad amid increasingly chaotic scenes.
Meanwhile, it was reported that American troops shot into the air at Hamad Karzai Airport to prevent hundreds of civilians running in asphalt after they took control of Afghanistan's air traffic Monday morning.
