An eight-year-old infected with mouse fever is being treated at the QKUK Infectious Clinic.
The child has been infected in the Decani Mountains and, as confirmed by TIME, the director of the Infectious Clinic, Arben Visaj, is in stable condition.
During the day, the National Institute of Public Health has appealed for caution during the consumption of mountain fruits because of the risk of being infected by mouse fever, which can be deadly.
According to them, there are mostly risks in Kosovo in the Dukagjin region, the Karadaku region and in that of Shala.
The source of infection is rats. The disease spreads with food, aerosol and contact. The cases of hemorrhagic fever with sporadical renal syndrome are correlated, and there is no epidemic outbreak among them, but carelessness and consumption of raw berries can cause fatal diseases. The trigger body enters through three entry gates: respiratory lesions, digestive and through skin, said the IKSHPK report”, the announcement said.
The Institute says that treatment of the disease is successfully conducted at the Infectious Clinic if presented on time. If the sick seek help, complications are presented that can block the kidneys.
