Last day for application for subjects who want to participate in local elections

The CEC worked even over the weekend to accept the application of political subjects for local elections to be held on 17 October.

CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi indicated that the CEC has accepted 29 political subjects, including political parties, ten are civic initiatives, and another thirteen are independent candidates.

He also added that the total number of these subjects are 34 candidates for mayors, as well as 474 candidates for municipal municipalities.

Elez added that by mid-day, the CEC has accepted about 6,000 applications from the diaspora, where some 5340 apps and another 600 applications are rejected.

According to him, all these applicants who successfully register as voters from the diaspora would be able to vote on another date starting on September 15th, while the Central Election Commission will accept these by October 15th.
