Daciq: Taliban came to Belgrade for negotiations live from front

Serbia's Parliament Speaker Ivica Dacic has said the Taliban went to Belgrade directly from the front several years ago for negotiations with the then Afghanistan authorities and that according to him those negotiations were secret to the public in Serbia, but not to the international community. Daciq told Blic that this happened when the minister [...]

Dacic told Blic that it happened when Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov visited Serbia and that explosive particles were found at the seat of one of the Taliban representatives.

He said that during foreign ministers' visits, and in such situations, there is always an anti-rejection examination, and that the police dog for the discovery of explosives smelled something about an armchair, which was transported for forensic examination.

They discovered there were some powder particles or explosive particles. And right there was one of the negotiators, the rebels, the Taliban. That means they came directly from the front to negotiate”, he added.

Daciq, who was then minister of Serbia's foreign affairs, said representatives of the Afghan Peace Council proposed that negotiations between then Afghanistan and the Taliban be held in Belgrade.
