In the last 24 hours, more infections and deaths have been recorded than any other day since the beginning of the pandemic.
Health authorities recorded over 39 thousand and 600 new cases and 542 deaths from COVID-19.
This number of deaths marks the largest record since last November, signaling that the situation with the virus is likely to deteriorate, the AP writes.
The rise in the number of cases with COVID-19 has led the total number of infected people in Iran to more than 4.1 million, meanwhile, deaths to over 94 thousand.
New cases following the spread of the Delta version have overwhelmed hospitals with numerous patients.
In Iran there have never been more patients with COVID-19 in critical condition.
