Corca City Hall: Invited artists from around the world. Bregovich? We are for peace and harmony among the peoples

Deputy Mayor of Korca City, who is the host of this annual holiday, Benilla Teva, says in an interview for News24 that the Birra Festival this summer will be held at two points in the city, in the marketplace, and at the new bus terminal, where over 10 types of beer will be participated.

“The Beer Party will be on two poles. The festival will take place at the bus terminal and Korca marketplace, with diversity of music, singers and type of beer participating. There are more than 10 types of beer attending this party”, Terova said.

This year marks the 15th anniversary of the Beer Festival, which gathers Albanian and foreign visitors in Korca. The festival will last 5 nights, from August 18th to August 22nd, days during which 10 concerts will be held. Albanian singers from Albania and Kosovo, but foreign singers, will participate in the organised performances.

At 5 nights, 10 concerts, 2 concerts a day will take place. We will have the most popular names of Albanian music and Kosovo and Macedonia. We'll have a band of musicians from Greece, Brazil. We've had the geography of singers very wide at all the beer parties. The beer party from a local holiday has turned into a holiday of all Albanians at a holiday of the entire Albanian space, the Balkan holiday. The goal is to turn the beer party into an international holiday”, Terova said.

On the final night of the beer party, international-renowned Serbian-Bosnian singer Goran Bregovic will also perform the final night, which from the municipality of Korca has sparked widespread controversy on social networks. Deputy Mayor Korca says this institution refuses to engage in a debate that seeks to politicise the beer party. It says the goal is to internationalize the holiday, where peace and harmony are sung, to connect and not to separate peoples.
