He has stressed that the UN can only help use vaccines at the request of governments.
The vaccine distribution program, COVAX so far, has distributed 186.2 million doses to 138 countries.
While according to UNICEF data, COVAX aims to provide 2 billion doses for low- and medium-income countries by the end of 2021.
We're very concerned about the situation where we've seen that vaccines have not been used. Either because of administrative reasons or because of lack of proper care, or in fact because of the reluctance to cry for”, UN spokesman Stephanie Dujaric said.
He said the UN is ready to help states with the distribution of the vaccine, but that could be made “alone on the basis of government requirements”.
The United States has donated more than 110 million doses of vaccine for nearly 60 countries so far, according to the White House.
