CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has said that following verifications by security institutions results in 30 political subjects having candidates failing to meet the criteria for certificate.
The “are 160 candidates from the list of more than 5 thousand who have requested certificate, but who have at least one sentence in the last three years”, Valmir Elesi has declared.
Elez has said that these candidates who have convictions for criminal acts in the past three years are also in the mayoral race, even for municipal assemblies.
He has said that at the moment they cannot make publicisation of the names of candidates who have been refused to be certified because according to him the law does not allow them to.
Elez has said that by September 8th, complaints will continue when you even cast lots on local elections.
By 4: 00 p.m. today, it has been the deadline for accepting answers from various institutions, including the KDR, from which it has been asked to know who are the candidates with court-set sentences for criminal acts in the last three years.
Local elections in Kosovo are held on 17 October.
