He via a Twitter post says the German government supports the initiative “Open Balkans” and requires urgent signing of the Regional Common Market Agreements before the EU-Balkans Summit on 6 October.
“CHUDI” The German government supports the Balkan Open differently from what people in Pristina and Tirana are told by those who challenge America, and not only that, are seeking urgent signing of the Regional Common Market Agreements before the EU-Balkans Summit on 6 October!
Open Balkan says the German government should be inclusive, and yes, of course, that's how it should be and therefore the door is open, but we can't even include anyone, nor can we wait until those who didn't want to realize that this is the way of the future!”, writes Rama.
Otherwise, Kosovo opposes it in any form “Mini-Balkan Schengen”, the initiative that was changed to “Open Balkans”, by three leaders in the Balkans, Aleksandar Vuciq, Edi Rama and Zoran Zaev.
The three leaders of the three countries -- Albania, Serbia and Northern Macedonia -- signed in Skopje on 29 July the agreement with which they intend to lift controls on their borders for goods and human circulation, starting on January 1st, 2023.
Prime Minister Albin Kurti did not attend the meeting, while his office described the agreement as an idea of Novi Sad, or the so-called mini-Sengen.
The idea of the Balkan mini-Shengen was introduced in Novi Sad of Serbia on October 10th 2019 by leaders of Serbia, Northern Macedonia and Albania.
Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama, not mentioning his name, sent a message to Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti about the opposition he is making to “Mini-Zenen”.
“Who says this is an initiative designed in the basements of the former Yugoslavia lives in another world. First, you live in a parallel world. The second one, living for politics in people's skin and not for increased prosperity and for strengthening bridges between people and third, forgets that if we leave like this, then we should say that the European Union is also a big Yugoslavia. If the EU is the great Yugoslavia, this is the small Yugoslavia”, Edi Rama had declared from Skopje.
While Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq said that “Edi Rama is doing good work, while Kosovo Prime Minister Ibrahimx1> is mistaken.
However, following opposition to the agreement in Skopje, the Kosovo government calls on the governments of the region to remain committed to the agenda of the European Union and transatlantic relations.
