The Johnson&Johnson vaccine is effective against Option Delta, without the need for a backup dose. This is the conclusion in which a study of 480,000 health workers in South Africa has reached.
It's also “the first” of the effect of the vaccine in real terms against Delta. The vaccine was an effective 71% against severe symptoms and hospitalization, as well as up to 95% against the risk of death.
According to a Sirsonke study, this vaccine is more effective against Delta than against previous versions of the SARs-CoV-2 virus such as Beta (South Africa).
“This is very good news in the fight against global pandemic”, said Dr Dan Baruch, a prominent virologist at the Beth Israel Business Medical Centre in Boston.
