The US Embassy in Tirana has reacted after former Prime Minister Sali Berisha's statements to Ambassador Yuri Kim, as well as his indictment of State Secretary Anthony Blinken, following his decision to declare “non grata” on the corruption charge.
“Midis the executive order of President Biden, proclaimed by US Secretary of State Blinken, Ambassador Kim's statements before the media last week and its editorial this week, the US position is clear and unchanged: The fight against corruption constitutes a fundamental interest in national security in the United States and we will use all instruments available to deal with corruption and impunity”, it says in response.
At the conference held today, Berisha published the indictment filed against Blinken, while saying Kim's stay in the DP was inappropriate, calling it the most scandalous in the 30 years left behind for a foreign diplomat in Albania.
