German MP Peter Beyer, who is reporting for the Western Balkans in Bundestag, had clear messages at the address of the Kosovo government.
This in relation to Pristina's refusal to become part of the initiative for regional co-operation launched as “Mini-Shengen” and finalised as the “Open Balkans” between Albania, Northern Macedonia and Serbia, on July 29th in Skopje.
The “Festa exists, Kosovo can be part of this initiative and there be a powerful player. They must overcome historical and ideological things and the burden they carry on their shoulders. I know this is difficult and for me as German it's easy to say this but for the good of citizens of all countries I think this is a good project. ” said German diplomat.
Besides that Beyer, who is the German government's co-ordinator for transatlantic issues, spoke of Kosovo-Serbia talks.
As a guest of online debate organised by the Centre for International Strategic Studies in the United States, he said common Euro-American access is needed.
Amyarin for dialogue, Miroslav Lajcak calls him a person with clear intentions he wants more directly to the sides.
“would be good to have a stronger role of emissary for dialogue when Serbia and Kosovo meet in Brussels or elsewhere. Because the special envoy's role is currently more of a moderator than of a driving leader. I'm sorry for my words, but he must be tougher sometimes because that's the language that's needed and understood a lot better”.
