US Ambassador to Kosovo Accepts Medal for Beau Biden

She said American President Joe Biden's commitment to making his country and the better world is insurmountable, as he spoke of his late son Beau, who after the war in Kosovo had served in training local prosecutors.

Before we look at the American President's video message, I'd like to say a few words about my impression of the late Beau Biden, paraphrasing the popular saying that the good people are like candles, they're burning to give light to the other”, Osman said at the ceremony today.

The best people do this without knowing it. I believe, the true measure of a good person is the eternal effect that leaves behind. This means first of all the people you inspire, the hearts you touch and the lives you change without being fully aware of this”.

The late Beau Biden was just such. He is the candle that has given light to so many. In our darkest days, the entire Biden family has also given light to the people of Kosovo”.

In contrast, United States President Joe Biden, in the video message sent to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, said the Biden family feels grateful for all the people of Kosovo with whom Beau fell in love with them.

“Beau has trusted so deeply in Kosovo's independence and democracy. As a lawyer under the US Department of Justice, he was volunteering to go to Kosovo and make the contribution to your independence and democracy, but above all the rule of law”, Beden said in the video message sent to Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani.
