It has already been confirmed that Kosovo will be among the states that will accept a number of Afghans for at least one time. High estimates have arrived for Kosovo from the United States following the willingness of Kosovo institutions to accommodate citizens from Afghanistan. However, security experts are showing increased caution with Afghans coming to Kosovo. On the other hand, it becomes known that more than 500 Afghans will remain in the first phase in Albania.
The Lipjan asylum centre and the other asylum centre in the village of Vranidol may be two of the camps where Afghans can be deployed from Afghanistan after the state was taken over by Taliban.
The number of Afghans coming to Kosovo is unknown. Nor is there a place for settlement. All communication with American officials for organising this process is becoming completely confidential. The government and the presidency have not provided details about this process, saying they have nothing to add to yesterday's statements expressing readiness for co-operation with America.
The US Embassy in Kosovo on Monday morning has restored the American State Department's stance by writing.
“Kosovo joins the United States and other countries in calling for all sides to respect and facilitate the safe and fair departure of foreign citizens and Afghans who want to leave the country”.
The Afghan housing process in Kosovo is emerging to be quite challenging for institutions.
For security experts besides capacity Kosovo must carefully address even an extremely dangerous issue.
