Over 4,000 candidates aim for local elections, verification of them by September 1st

Thus has the Central Election Commission announced after the deadline for surrender of lists for mayoral elections and municipal municipalities.
At a media conference, CEC spokesman Valmir Elezi has indicated that the total number of candidates who have applied for certificates is 4 thousand and 922.
“over the two-month period, June 17th, August 16th, in the Office for Registeration Political parties and Certificates have applied 94 political subjects, out of whom 32 political parties, 1 coalition, 35 civic initiatives and 26 independent candidates. The total number of candidates representing these political subjects is 4 thousand and 922 candidates, out of whom 165 candidates for mayor of municipalities and 4 thousand and 757 for the Municipal Countries”, Elesi has said.
In order to verify candidates, the CEC will address institutions, as they are Kosovo Judiciary Council, Election Panel for Ances and Parashtre, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Kosovo Agency for Intelligence, Ministry of Jobs Foreign, Ministry of Defence and Customs Kosovo.
“Communication with these institutions will be continuous during these days. So once the lists of any political subject are prepared, the same will be sent to these institutions. Under the operational plan approved by the CEC, the whole process of submitting requests to these institutions for the verification of candidates will be completed by 23 August, while accepting answers from these institutions until 24 August. The CEC will make a decision on the certificate of any subject or candidate, more recently until September 1st”, Elez said.
In the event that no candidate or subject is certified, the parties could file complaints to PZAP by September 6th. While the deadline for attracting lots for ranking political subjects on the ballot is September 8th.
