27 flood dead in Turkey

The floods have caused chaos in northern provinces, while authorities have been putting forest fires under control on southern coasts.
The Emergency Agency has said that 25 people have died as a result of floods in the province of Kastamonu and two others have died in Sinop.

Floods and fires, which have left eight people dead, have destroyed tens of thousands of hectares of forests.
More than 1,700 people have been evacuated from affected areas, some with the help of propellers and boats.
Helicopters have lowered personnel to the peaks of buildings to save people who are trapped after the rains have made roads unsurpassed.
The flooding has reportedly left 330 villages without electricity.
Five bridges have collapsed and many others have been damaged, the emergency agency said, while television footage has shown up many cars destroyed on the streets. / REL
