“We are continuing with a very rapid momentum, logistics shows no problem so far and we have been able to clear away slightly more than 2,200 diplomatic staff, foreign and Afghan security staff working for embassies,” said the official.
It is unclear when civil flights will resume, he said.
The official did not give a summary of the number of Afghans among the more than 2,200 people who would leave, nor was it clear if this number included more than 600 Afghan men, women and children who went out on Sunday, loaded on a military plane.
