Haiti's hospitals are overloaded by the large number of wounded, which has prompted authorities to send doctors from other regions to the area near where the quake occurred.
The damage rate has become clearer on August 15th, since the Civil Protection Agency has said more than 700 buildings have been destroyed, including hospitals and schools, as well as at least 3,788 homes have been destroyed, as well as roads have been damaged.
The biggest damage was reported in the centre of the town of Jeremie, in which some 200,000 people live.
International aid workers, doctors and other rescue workers have been spotted at Port-au-Prince Airport, waiting to leave in the earthquake-damaged area.
The challenge Haiti is facing has been exacerbated by the political crisis, which has started in this state by the assassination of President Jovenel Moise on 7 July.
