Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vuciq, at the Regional Co-operation Economic Forum that is taking place in Skopje between him, Albania's prime minister, Edi Rama and North Macedonia's Zoran Zaev, recalled his first meeting with the Albanian prime minister, while saying they were like two enemies.
Vuciq said both had offended each other to benefit politically.
I remember my first encounter with Eddie. We were in the positions of two enemies when one went to the other and found enough words to offend each other to gain political points in domestic campaigns. But now we don't care about things like that. We're thinking about the common future, about possible results, and this is”, Vuciq said.
He stressed that with the initiative of regional co-operation, known so far as “mini-Schengen”, people would feel more welcome and safer when visiting the other state.
The Serbian president said that citizens of Serbia are visiting Albania and are feeling good on the Albanian coast.
“People understand the importance of open safes. People will feel more welcome wherever they move in our territories. May Ohrid, Prespa, Skopje, everywhere. People will feel it. But even today, Serbs who have visited Albania and are on the Albanian coast feel better and feel even more secure after this meeting. These are the messages we need to send to citizens”, Vuciq said.
He again spoke indirectly about Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti's absence at this forum, saying he is sorry.
You really think I should answer someone from the region who didn't want to join us? No. That's why it's a little... Sorry on the one hand. But, you know how it is? If you want to join us, fine; if not, then good again” declared Vuciq.
By the end of 2014, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama had talked mainly about Kosovo, stressing that it is regional and global reality.
Rama's statement has received the Serbian president in no way well, removing headphones from his ears demonicly when Rama had declared that independent Kosovo is irreversible reality.
I didn't expect provocation from Mr. Rama, who mentioned Kosovo and I don't know what Kosovo has to do with Mr. Rama, I'm sorry that it has raised this issue, which we haven't agreed on”, then Aleksandar Vuciq expressed.
