Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci, also from The Hague, is following all developments in Kosovo.
In one of his safeguards handed down, requiring parole, the former president has cited the fact that the current government is taking turns dismissing officials appointed by him.
This fact was found in the document that Special Chief Prosecutor Jack Smith has handed over this week in response to defence, why Thaci must continue to remain in custody.
According to the prosecution in The Hague, Thaci continues to have influence on Kosovo politics, and the dismissal of former AKI leader Kreshnik Gashi is mentioned after attempting to steal documents in the presidential safe on 6 November.
This incident occurred a day after Thaci was arrested and during the time when investigation and seizure operations were under way at his residence. This not only does not present a lack of influence, but the circumstances leading up to the AKI chief's dismissal is a test of illegal intervention by the defendant's supporters, further showing how long his subordinates are willing to go”, Jack Smith wrote on his parachute.
Smith claims fatal even if Thaci is left to be protected in freedom, on condition at a residence secured in Kosovo or in a third state. Especially this last option in the prosecutor's new document, it becomes known that the former president's defence has submitted the request to allow his client to remain in several countries as the third possible countries.
