Spain and the Netherlands will be classified as the high-incident area of COVID-19 by the German government, starting Tuesday, after an increase in the number of infections in these countries in recent weeks, the Robert Koch (RKI) Institute for Disease Control and Prevention announced today.
Anyone returning to Germany from countries under this classification should be quarantined in 10 days, if not vaccinated or passed COVID-19, reports ATS.
According to the German Travel Association, DDRV, estimated to be around 400,000 German tourists are currently on vacation in Spain.
Spain has seen a rapid increase in new cases since the end of June, and now it has some of the worst figures in all of Europe.
Similarly, the Netherlands has recorded high figures, with the number of new infections rising by 500 %s in a week since the beginning of July.
