Duberney Capador, a retired member of Colombia's Special Forces, was one of two Colombians reportedly killed by hyatin security forces last week following President Joevnel Moise's murder in Port-au-Prince.
Tens of residents from Colombia have been arrested so far, along with two Haitian-Americans, reports Guardian.
Haiti's authorities claim Capador was part of a 28-member team of killers who broke into Moise's presidential residence in the early hours of Wednesday before being killed.
Capador's sister told reporters her 40-year-old brother wasn't a paid killer but had travelled to Port-au-Prince after being employed in a private insurance firm that stored “important people”.
He's not a Mercedes, he's a good man,” said Jenny Capador in an interview.
She said she had exchanged messages with her brother in the first few hours following the assassination of Haiti's president.
She said her brother told him his team “had arrived too late to protect the person who had to protect”.
I guess it was about the president,” she speculated.
A report by Colombian warehouses Samana quoting anonymous sources said that former Colombian soldiers had gone to Haiti after they were hired to protect the president, not to kill him. /Periscope
