Senator Ernst said she is happy to return to Kosovo to discuss with Kosovo officials how the United States can continue its support, but also for ways in which the state of Iowa can expand its role in Kosovo through the long-term partnership between Kosovo and Ioea. Ernst said he hopes the partnership could move beyond already powerful military co-operation, expanding into education, business development and agriculture.
“There are concrete ways to advance economic development and support businesses in Kosovo. It is important to target areas with greater opportunities for expanded co-operation between Iowas and Kosovo, such as agriculture,” said Senator Ernst.
In the media communiqué from the American Economic Oda (OEAK) of Kosovo, “speaking of development of the workforce, it stressed the importance of professional qualifications programmes for students, as an alternative to university titles, citing the success of such programmes in Iowa. Ernst stressed how these programs prepare young people for the job market, creating better connections between developing skills with the needs of employers”.
Regarding the investment climate in Kosovo, Senator Ernst said there are many people who would have the will to invest and engage in Kosovo, but investors need to make sure of a powerful legal system, supported by demonstrated respect for rule of law.
