Cow cloning for milk without lactose. That's the goal and target a group of scientists from Moscow are working on. Captives already have an accomplishment in this regard, since they were able to clone a cow in April 2020.
But this time the objective is to modify animal genes to remove proteins that cause intolerance to lactose - to produce milk that causes no allergies.
It's about eliminating beta-globulin genes, and by means of the Crisp technique they've managed to remove these two genes. The work will continue normally, and it predicts that after the removal of two genes, an embryo will be implanted into a cow's womb.
Even in the case of complete, nonpartial cloning, it was followed in the same way. Last year, a 64kg calf was born, which is now 14 months old, enjoys full health, weighs half a ton and has a normal reproductive cycle.
