The name of the Balkan Mini-Shengen initiated by Serbian President Aleksandar Vuciq, and the prime ministers of Albania and Northern Macedonia, Edi Rama and Zoran Zaev, will be “Open Balkan”.
The new name of this initiative is set at today's trilateral meeting in Skopje, where other countries in the region are also allowed to participate, the TCh reports.
The signing of several trilateral agreements, within the framework of the Balkan Mini-Sengen, is expected during today's summit, aimed at facilitating the lives of citizens and the business community in the Western Balkans.
Northern Macedonia Prime Minister Zoran Zaev, in his opening address at the regional Economic Forum in Skopje, said the regional initiative between Skopje, Belgrade and Tirana contains four EU freedoms.
Zaev said this initiative is aimed at facilitating the lives of citizens and empowering regional co-operation.
The “this is what we build today is derived from European values because in itself it contains all four freedoms of the European Union. Freedom of movement of people, goods, capital and services. The ultimate goal is to reach stop-just goʹ, not to stop at the borders between Serbia, Northern Macedonia, Albania, and to hope for other” countries, Zaev said, among other things.
