The messages Stoltenberg gave after separate meetings with Kurt and Osman

During meetings with President Vjosa Osmani and Prime Minister Albin Kurti Secretary General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, said Kosovo authorities should respect the agreement between NATO and the Kosovo Security Force (FSK), so that KSF will not enter the northern part of Kosovo without agreement with KFOR. “This has been discussed and [...]
This has been discussed and welcomed that Kosovo authorities continue to support the 2018 agreement, so that KSF will not pass to the northern part without the KFOR agreement. This reflects the sensitivity of the situation and is the best way to find a balance. We continue to support resolving a political agreement within the Pristina-Belgrade dialogue”- Stoltenberg said.
Kurti: Harsh Agreement for Kosovo
Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti sees this reconfirmed agreement in 2018 between NATO and then President Hashim Thaçi as harmful to Kosovo and as such a month ago he has sent it to the prosecutor.
According to Kurt, this constitutes violations of the Constitution. In a 2013 exchange letter, Hashim Thaci has assured then NATO chief Anders Fog Rasmussen that KSF “would undertake mission north of Kosovo only with the preliminary reconciliation of KFOR”. And current Secretary General NATO, Stoltenberg, says this agreement is still valid.
This is still relevant and reflects the sensitivity and challenges as well. I think it is the best way to continue finding proper balance and avoiding any situation that can undermine and weaken efforts to find a political solution and anything that can undermine the Pristina-Belgrade” dialogue, Jens Stoltenberg said, adding that “when signing a deal, it continues even when you have persons in responsible positions<3>, Stoltenberg said, commenting on the decision of Prime Minister Kurti to submit the agreement to the prosecutor.
Feelings and Challenges
Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, also said NATO would continue to support the Kosovo Security Force, but within its original mandate, prior to Kosovo's Parliament decision that by law turned the KSF into the Kosovo Army, but without being renamed.
When the decision was made, I said it was wrong. NATO will continue to work with the KSF within its original mandate. This is what we support”, the Secretary General said. NATO.
Dedicatement for NATO Membership
Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, after meeting with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, wrote that “NATO, has a crucial role in Kosovo's freedom, but also in its current contribution to a safe and secure environment through KFOR troops”. She said KFOR is continuing to train KSF, which the transition process in the military, according to the president, is conducting the NATO standards, being worthy to become part of this organisation.
“We are working devotedly to joining NATO. We need the support of this organisation even with NATO members who do not recognise Kosovo”, said President Osmani.
Dialogue with Serbia
Even the Secretary General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, speaking of Pristina's continued formal application for Kosovo membership in NATO, said “NATO membership is based on consensus. We need all allies to agree. So the only way to achieve membership for everyone is for all allies to agree to”. According to him, the most important thing Kosovo can do now is to continue to engage in dialogue with Serbia.
