Since seven years ago, the goals of the process were described in the political declerate signed by the leaders of Kosovo, Albania, Montenegro, northern Macedonia, Bosnia and Serbia, as well as European leaders, then headed by Merkel.
Make additional and real progress in the reform process, in resolving outstanding bilateral and internal issues and in achieving reconciliation within and among societies in the region”, it was said among other things in the statement.
The Chancellor herself, who in September ends his fourth term at the head of the government and says goodbye to politics on Saturday, came out with a statement on the Berlin process.
